The 4’s stay has split

The 4’s stay was inspected closely today and it is indeed cracked.  The stay has split on its outer side and must be replaced.  Until it is replaced there is the risk that a hard set will break the stay and leave the bell swinging over and out of control.

Fortunately the tower has a full set of spare stays, thanks to Rob.  These have not been drilled, so the 4’s spare stay will have to have the two holes drilled before it can be installed.

A new spare stay will then need to be obtained for the 4.

Below is the plan and dimensions of the stays, as provided by Whitechapel.
