Christ Church New Zealand bells update

The bells of Christ Church Cathedral in New Zealand, whose tower collapsed in the February 2011 earthquake, have been shipped back to their foundry, according to a report from the Episcopal News Service.  The John Taylor Bell Foundry in Loughborough, England will test the bells and where necessary repair them.  It is reported that some of the bells appeared to be cracked and one may be severely damaged.

Update:  Of course news of their arrival at the foundry was already on Campanophile, which we often forget to check even though we have a connection with it.  The article “Christ Church Bells Are on the Road to Recovery” includes a photo of the bells on their shipping pallets at the foundry.
