What fun! We were able to leave all 8 bells “up” after service ringing on Sunday since tower renovations are now complete. So with Andrew leading the band of 10 we took turns and gained strength in rounds and call changes with Jorge (who was praised highly for his rapid progress) and then practiced some Plain Hunt and Bobs on 5. Nice to have Carol back, Ken in attendance, and Rob in town albeit briefly. Rumor has it that Pamela may be visiting soon to keep us on our toes with her charm and wisdom and Bobbie will be our audio advisor from her balcony above for the next few weeks until her finger fully recuperates.
We had nine ringers in the bell tower for Service ringing this morning and were very excited to have Andrew in town conducting. We hope to take full advantage of his visit and have a good turnout on Tuesday for practice. Everyone please review Plain Bob Minimus (see link on blog) and come prepared with any questions! Pamela and her Captain are also back in the states and we look forward to her visits to the tower and ringing with the band again very soon.
Anne, Marguerite, Jody, Bobbie, Jorge and Rob were in attendance. What a delight to have Rob in town, and we look forward to Andrew as well in the very near future. An unfortunate mishap with Bobbie who fractured a finger at the Sunday service while ringing down, however, she’s a champ and she showed up to watch and learn. We rang rounds with Jorge and practiced some mini call changes. Advice to new ringers was to refrain from the tendency to “death grip” the rope and instead willfully engage in fully extending the arms above the head and follow through completely below the waist so as not to have to muscle the rope and become fatigued.
