From Bobbie: We had a good practice with much continued guidance and support from everyone and Ken also joined us which was wonderful. As a bon voyage to Pamela, Marguerite suggested dinner! Pamela, her husband Jim, Ken, Marguerite, Judy, Carroll, Anne and I all enjoyed Italian food with free bottles of wine! We wish both Carroll and Pamela safe travels and a most enjoyable summer.
To my fellow Miami Trinity Band members:
Please note the requirements for signing up for a ringing course at the next annual get together of the ringing world in Washington DC, Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately most of us don’t qualify to participate in classes or to join in on ringing sessions. Therefore may I suggest that together as a band, we establish some goals-for-progress! Just a thought.
See descriptions below:
Course 1: Introduction to Surprise Major. This course will focus on Cambridge and Yorkshire. Students participating in this course should be able to confidently ring touches of Plain Bob Major and have successfully rung either Kent Major or Cambridge Minor.
Course 2: Introduction to 10-Bell Method Ringing. Instruction for this course will focus on Plain Bob Caters, Plain Bob Royal, and Grandsire Caters. Students participating in this course should be able to ring touches of Plain Bob Major and Grandsire Triples.
The Washington Ringing Society will host the 2014 AGM in DC Labor Day weekend. In addition to the meeting (8/30) they will have ringing courses, ringing at the Cathedral and in Frederick, and (of course) social events. Registration updates will be posted on their website (www.washingtonringingsociety.org).
Deadline to register for the ringing courses is July 1. Space is very limited so if you are interested in attending (either as a student or as a helper) please contact them right away: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Deadline to register for everything else is August 1. This includes the reception at the Cathedral, dinner at Old Europe, and pre-ordering (not for sale at event) polo shirts.
