Sunday Service ringing in Dublin: 19Jul2014

We were thrilled to hear of Barbara’s visit to her homeland (Ireland) recently where she rang for the Sunday service at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral! Their belltower was built in 1381 and she confessed that climbing up the little stone spiral staircase feels like you will never reach the top as it’s not for the faint hearted. They have 14 bells and she rang on the treble and the 2nd one and though she was very nervous the Dublin band made her feel comfortable and welcome. They spoke of how their bells are “new” (from 1870) which made her laugh! She also found Dublin city even more beautiful than she remembered and she took photos of the belltower which she will share with us next Sunday. http://www.stpatrickscathedral.ie/index.aspx
